Shiga International Patent Office is currently recruiting freelance patent translators (Japanese to English) to work from home on a part-time or full-time basis.  We are seeking translators in all technical fields including chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, software, and physics, among others.

Applicants must have an excellent command of English and Japanese.  A B.S. degree or higher in science or engineering and translation experience (preferably patent related) are required.

Interested persons should forward a resume/CV and cover letter clearly indicating an interest in the Freelance Patent Translator position, and detailing educational/professional background, qualifications, and field(s) of expertise.

Qualified candidates will be required to complete a short trial translation allowing us to evaluate translation ability.  Personal translation samples are not acceptable.  Those successfully completing the trial translation will be contacted regarding the possibility of future translation work.
