Dr. Sakurai specializes in molecular biology, molecular genetics, cell biology, metabolic engineering, and developmental biology. In his doctoral course, he conducted an analysis of cytokinesis related genes. He also has experience in the development of industrially-useful yeast strains with enhanced sugar metabolic efficiency by comprehensive analysis of sugar metabolic genes of fission yeast.
