Graduated from the Department of Law of Nihon University in March 1960 and
passed the Patent Attorney Examinations in December of the same year. In March
1965, Mr. Shiga founded Shiga International Patent Office. In April 1981,
Mr. Shiga was appointed Vice President of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association,
and at other times he has served as Chairperson of the Japan Patent Attorneys
Association's Business Strategies Committee (1984), as Chairperson of the Patent
Attorneys Association's Organization Committee (1986), as a member of the Patent
Attorney Examination Committee (1988 and 1989), and as a member of the Committee
for Review of the Government's Special Public Corporations (2000). In February
1992, he wrote A Simple Explanation of Patents for Engineers, Chemical Engineering,
Volume 55. In 1992, Mr. Shiga was decorated by the Japanese Government for his
work in intellectual property.
